[KOREA TRIP 2016] Korean Folk Village (한국 민속촌)

Hello ~ Today I'm here to continue my Korea Trip 2016 travel diary with the fourth day. It was a rainy day as soon as we woke up - one of the few rainy days during the whole trip - but we didn't let that stop our plans. After breakfast we headed towards Suwon where we took a free shuttle bus to Korean Folk Village. It took us a while to find the bus stop and we ended up asking from an information center. They told us that the bus stop is right next to us and we somehow managed to find it after a while...

As it was a rainy day there was pretty much no one in the bus with us. Besides us there were few Chinese tourists and one couple. I think we spent about 20-30 minutes in the bus? I think it was a nice way to see the surroundings on the way ^^

The admission was 15,000 KRW which is roughly about 12 €. It is extremely cheap when I compare to Finnish prices... As soon as we entered the place we saw lots and lots of young - maybe 13-15 years old - students on a school trip visiting Korean Folk Village.

Before starting our "tour" we checked out one of the souvenir stores and I managed to take this one sneaky photo above until I was told that taking photos inside the souvenir store isn't allowed. After a long thought I decided to buy one pretty magnet to bring back home to Finland. I have a habit of buying a magnet whenever I'm overseas. Another thing to why I only bought a magnet is that everything else was too expensive for my budget :'Dd

If you are a fan of Korean dramas and especially historical ones - you might notice some of the buildings and places on these photos. Korean Folk Village has been used as a filming spot for various historical dramas such as Sungkyunkwan ScandalThe Moon That Embraces The Sun and also one of my favorites Arang and the Magistrate was filmed there. I'll let the photos speak for themselves and stop talking/writing for a while ~

As I'm a fan of Korean historical dramas I might have screamed inside my head a bit when I saw this jail area. So many torture scenes have been filmed here and I could see the dramas vividly in my head. It was pretty odd to see this place I've seen in dramas on my own eyes.

A list of some dramas and movies filmed at Korean Folk Village ~ I guess they rent the place out and get a lot of money this way? And because of the dramas they attract more visitors and that's why they have so low admission fees... I'll stop analyzing here and let you enjoy the photos ^^

After few hours we got hungry so we wanted to regain our energy ! I had bulgogi bibimbap and got some kimchi and a mild soup with some sprouts as well. It was super good and warmed me up after walking few hours in the rain with my camera XD After eating we got coffees from the cafe nearby the food place and continued our tour ~

There is also a museum so we decided to check that one out. The museum was indoors and it was a nice way to learn more about Korean history. There are English translations everywhere in Korean Folk Village so don't worry about not understanding Korean ^^

This was so hilarious I had to "peep in" and take a pic - just for you guys :'Dd I didn't share this on my personal Facebook album... Next time I visit I hope it won't rain so I can check out the parts of Korean Folk Village that I missed this time. Have you visited Korean Folk Village?
